Day #16 – Rest and Yoga :)

Today’s all about chilling out and zoning out! :)

Agenda for today :

  • Leave work early and meet up with Neetha
  • Fumble through Google Maps and find my way to this awesome Arabic restaurant
  • Fill myself with Humus and Shawarma rolls
  • Go home, do some meditation and calm the mind.

This is all in preparation for the big day tomorrow! Yes, you guessed it!  24 SOLID hours dedicated to the monster : ACS! I’ll post about it soon!

Right, now that i’ve got that out of the way, it’s time to take a step back and do a high level review of the 15 days i’ve spent and my goals for the next 75.

Since i’ve spent 1/6 th of the number of days remaining before my attempt , here’s looking back at some of the stuff i did

  • I did some technology labs ( VPN , ASA , Attack mitigation , etc ) . I learn a lot from these and i’m definitely going to allocate time to re-do all these labs again.
  • It sounds kinda wierd , but all my life i’ve not been setting high goals for myself. I guess , it’s always been the fear of not being able to live upto them / a feeling that i’m not capable of achieving what others can. So this time i’ve set clear goals which i want to accomplish :
    • Find atleast 2 ways to solve every task . For some tasks, this might not be possible , but for others there might be more than 2 ways.
    • Reduce the “silly” errors that i do . ex : I don’t read the tasks properly,etc.
    • Try and reduce the time taken to solve a problem
    • I must force myself not to do 2 things
      • Google the problem :D I am going to force myself to use only the DocCD :)
      • Look at the solutions. If a task takes more than the allocated time, i must force myself to skip the task and head to others, but to never look at the solutions
  • I did Beta testing for INE vol 1 labs. That was also a great experience and it was very humbling to interact with Keith Barker. Overall , i learned  a lot!

My plan for the next 1/4 ( Day 16 – Day 30 ) is as follows

  • Re-work all the technology labs.
  • Master the ACS . Yes, i’m sick of being bogged down by this piece of software. I am going to rip this apart and burn the parts ( Idea stolen from Twilight :D )
  • Try and read as much of the DocCD as possible ( free time activity ) . I got this idea from watching @packetu ( Paul Stewart ) go throught the DocCD. Thanks Paul! :)

My plan for the Day 31 – Day 45 :

  • Start the Vol 2 labs ( The full scale 8 hours labs ) . I can’t tell you how excited i am to start this!
  • Go through the Bootcamp. I’ve purchased the INE CoD V3.0 CCIE SEC bootcamp.
  • Finish all the Vol 2 labs.

Day 46 - 60 :

  • Re-work the Vol 2 labs
  • Re-work the Vol 1 labs
  • Focus on efficiency : Fast , accurate

At the end of 70 days, i want to take up the  written exam and if i clear that, take up the lab soon after.

A part of me keeps telling me not to plan too much and to take everyday as it comes ( that’s the old, procrastinating part of me ), and the other part’s patting me on my back for committing to a schedule. Let’s see how this goes :) I’d love to hear what you thought about my schedule . Plus your additions to this, anything that i need to additional to this! Please feel free to shoot me an e-mail or comment here :)

Cheers,

Vybhav
